IU Visual Identity : IU Integrated Image

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I review the current guidelines?

Indiana University guidelines are available for review at the IU Visual Identity Web site. IUPUI will customize the guidelines for the campus and post the information on the IUPUI Communications and Marketing Web site through the Office of External Affairs.

When will I receive my signature?

Signatures have been requested for Indiana University schools on the IUPUI campus through University Marketing office of Creative Services. Comminications & Marketing will review the needs of each school with the school's Integrated Image Point of Contact. A current list of Integrated Image Points of Contact can be found at here.

How do I request my signature?

Please order your signatures with the online request form. Members of the Integrated roundtable are authorized to order signatures for their school, department or unit. If you have additional questions about the signature ordering process please contact Troy Brown at tdbrown@iupui.edu.

Is there a cost for signatures?

IUPUI Communications and Marketing will be authorized to generate signatures for the IUPUI campus effective October 1, 2006 at no cost to the academic unit.

What about centers and institutes?

Guidelines for signature applications for centers and institutes are expected to be completed in Spring of 2007. In the meantime, if a center or institute would like to create a signature under the published guidelines, they are welcome to do so. IUPUI Communications and Marketing is on standby to assist in the development of center and institute signatures.

When do I need to start using my signature?

Indiana University schools at IUPUI should begin using the signature immediately for all print publications, business cards, letterhead and like materials. Web banners should not be deployed until January when the campus signature is finalized. Purdue University schools and IUPUI campus units will receive their signatures in January 2007.

Which signature do I use?

Primary signatures for academic units on the IUPUI campus should include the block IU, the school name, Indiana University and IUPUI (see pg. 33-34). Statewide programs are invited to use the block IU, Indiana University and the school name when communicating with audiences beyond the central Indiana area (see p. 47).

Which signature should I use on business cards?

Between October 1 and January 31, Indiana University schools at IUPUI should use the most appropriate option presented in the Integrated Image guidelines (p. 76-77). The default signature should include the IUPUI identification, unless you have offices on more than one campus. Purdue University schools and IUPUI campus organizations should continue with campus approved business cards, letterhead and signatures.

Will the campus, schools, and units that already have their own logos be able to keep them?

No. If this effort is to be successful, all Indiana University and IUPUI entities must support it by adhering to the new block IU guidelines. Only IUPUI administrative units, Purdue University schools, and centers and institutes are exempt from the published guidelines until January 2007.

Will schools and departments be able to use the seal and the campuscape?

No. Please retire the use of the Indiana University seal or the IUPUI campuscape.
