As part of our athletics image enhancement effort, launched in 1999-2000, we adopted an image-driven program that included putting the face of Jaguar senior forward Josh Murray on both sides of a Metro city bus.

The public reaction, both on campus and in the community, was exceptional and immediate. The huge image of a Jaguar player adorning the side of a bus, palming basketballs over both front and rear wheel wells, became the "talk of the town" and put IUPUI basketball in the public eye as never before. Without significant money to spend on image-raising through electronic or newspaper campaigns, we relied on a two-pronged campaign: the city bus - which moved throughout the city and was seen by an estimated 220,000 people each day for a full year - coupled with similar images on city billboards at key locations.
