The IUPUI Virtual Tour allows prospective students and other audiences to explore the IUPUI campus via a number of themed tours. Virtual Tours are a common feature in the recruiting section of university websites, and IUPUI has taken this a step further and designed tours of other aspects of the campus. Tours currently include the Prospective Students Tour, Housing Tour, Athletics Facilities Tour, and a tour based on campus history. Future tours will feature campus art and historical landmarks.
Each tour includes several tour stops, placed on a map, which website visitors can navigate sequentially or via the map. The tour stops include photos and information about the tour stop. The website, located at www.iupui.edu/tour/, is a Macromedia Flash presentation, which displays information from our tours database. The tour is viewed several hundred times per month.
The IUPUI Virtual Tour won a 21st Annual Admissions Advertising Awards "Merit Award" in the category of "Internet/Web Site", beat out only by Kansas State University, The University of Louisville research website, and the Mohawk College Career Meter.
