The OCM Communicate Effectively workshop series helps IUPUI staff improve their communications and leverage campuswide resources.

All workshops are held in the Multimedia Production Center (CE 380). Sessions run from 10:00am — 11:30am, unless otherwise specified. There is no cost for the sessions.
This training session will introduce event planners to the basic system functionality and features of the new IUPUI Events Calendar system to publicize and market events to university audiences. Session topics will include: Interface Overview, User Registration, Calendaring, Event Posting, Event Analytics, and Administrative Tools.
Presenter: Chris Brown is the events calendar developer and administrator, and he manages several campus websites as a web specialist in Communications & Marketing.
Social media - especially Facebook and Twitter - continues to be a hot topic, especially among communicators. How can social media advance a unit's goals? Who's using it, and what can social media accomplish? Steve Hodges, IUPUI's Director of Electronic Media, will share research about social media users, successes and best practices at IU, how to measure effectiveness, and how - and whether - to get started.

Learn how to take full advantage of IUPUI's online photo gallery, which gives campus schools, centers and programs access to professional-quality photos of the people, places and events that make IUPUI a unique part of the city. Learn what images are included in the gallery, how they are organized and the most effective ways of including them in your web sites, publications and other materials.
Presenter: Ric Burrous has many roles within Communications & Marketing, including editor (and often writer) of IUPUI Magazine, photo gallery manager, and all photo assignments. He has been at IUPUI since 1991.

Presenter: Jolene Kernick is a web specialist in Communications & Marketing, with over 15 years of experience in web and graphic design. Aside from web development, she also coordinates the homepage "hotspot" and JAGtv announcements, and publishes campus e-newsletters, such as "Inside IUPUI" and "IUPUI In the News."
