The Hot Spot

Introduction

The Hot Spot allows visitors to see important information quickly.

The IUPUI campus homepage receives 30-40,000 impressions each day. Research indicates that most visitors utilize the page as a gateway to other resources, such as campus e-mail, OneStart, Oncourse, information about IUPUI, school and unit websites, etc.

The Hot Spot is a promotional graphic located on the bottom right of the IUPUI homepage, just right of the featured podcasts. It is designed to contrast with the page (as a graphic vs. text) and changes as frequently as daily.

Primary Contact

Contact our Hotspot Specialist at hotspot@iupui.edu to inquire about availability and graphic design for your promotion, or fill out our online submission form.

Audience

A large majority of visitors to the homepage are current IUPUI students. Faculty and staff are the second largest audience, and third is off-campus audiences, including prospective students and their parents, campus visitors, and others seeking information about the institution.

Hot Spot Content

A variety of topics are acceptable in the Hot Spot. The most frequent type of content is event announcements.

As the dominant public face for IUPUI, the hot spot must constantly reflect the impression we wish to portray to the community.

Content should:

  • Be relevant to a high percentage of homepage visitors (if an event, be OPEN to all faculty, staff, students, and the community)
  • Target a key institutional goal (i.e. student retention, doubling initiatives)

Preemption

ALL CONTENT IS SUBJECT TO PREEMPTION at the sole discretion of Communications & Marketing. The Hot Spot is a critical communications channel and, thus, will be utilized for urgent communications when needed.
